Your child's reading goal is to be able to read at Level E. Please have your child read 30 or more minutes at home EVERY DAY!
We are working writing everyday in first grade. "First graders draw primarily on their own experience and knowledge as the source of material for their writings. They also borrow from and build on the stories read to them, as well as create their own fiction." (Reading and Writing Grade by Grade, First Grade, Writing Standard 2, p.112)
SKILLS Some of the skills we will be working on include: segmenting and blending middle and ending sounds to read unfamiliar words ending consonants two consonant beginning blends word families ending in frequent rimes using descriptive words when speaking of people, places, things, actions and events vary sentence openers
