Dr. Henderson gives Unforgetable Acceptance Speech at MBP Annual Dinner

Monday Night, at the Minnesota Business Partnership's Annual Dinner at the Minneapolis Convention Center, Ames Elementary and J.W. Smith Elementary from Bemidji were awarded the Minnesota's Future Award Recipients! Chip Emery, Chairman of MTS Systems presented the Awards. The evening was Spectacular. Also attending in Ames School honor were our own Superintendent, Dr. Meria Carstarphen and Dr. Barbara DeMasters.  We give a SPECIAL thank you to BAE Systems, Ceridian Corporation, GE Capital Solutions Fleet Services, IBM Corporation, and MTS Systems Corporation for providing computers and $10,000 grants to each of the Minnesota's Future Award recipients. Connecting with Youth Recipient, Rick Ries, Medtronic, Inc., and Heroes of Mentoring, Willie Braziel, HealthPartners, Joe Guttman, IWCO Direct, Mary Kay Hanson, Target, Elana Jenkins, Wells Fargo, Andrew Klosinski, Emerson Process Management, Sarah McPherson, Ecolab, Becky Rich, Best Buy, Linda Rise, Emerson Process Management,

and Steve Vrchota, Great River Energy were also honored. Govenor Tim Palenty was the Keynote Speaker. Thank You to the MBP Staff: Jim Bartholomew, Director of Education Policy, Jill Larson, Director of Fiscal Policy, Beth McMullen, Director of Health Policy, Katie Nadeau, Operations Manager, Tom Teigen, Director of Communications and Russ Jowers, Administrative Assistant for planning and implementing such an extraordinary event!

The Minnesota Business Partnership's, or MBP, membership is limited to chief executives of large Minnesota employers or, in the case of companies headquartered outside the state, the highest-ranking representative in Minnesota. Working with legislators and policymakers to help shape Minnesota's education system is important. But the Partnership and their members do much more to support Minnesota schools, students and their families. Individually, MBP members contribute more than $300 million

a year in Minnesota - much of that goes to schools and education-related nonprofit organizations. Through the Partnership, members support a number of programs, provide annual awards to two public elementary schools that are closing the achievement gap, and, when appropriate, offer time and talent for specific projects. STUDENT ATTENDANCE Regular attendance is essential for school success. We monitor attendance each day and we follow the Minnesota Law for Compulsory School Attendance. Please call Nancy Spack at 651-293-8970 to report your child's absence! UNIFORMS Ames School is a school in which the students must wear uniforms. Ames is not selling school uniforms this year but they may be purchased at Target, Sears, Kohls, etc.
